Cape Verde without key trio for Bafana

The Cape Verde Islands must do without captain Babanco for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa after he was cautioned in the match between the two countries in Praia on Friday and picked up an automatic one-match suspension.
It will come as a blow to the team as Babanco is the most experienced player in the team with almost a decade of international football behind him.
His absence is added to that of defender Vally, who had to leave the field early on Friday through injury.
The Angolan-based Vally has not recovered and did not travel with the squad to Durban for the return match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, which is being screened live on SuperSport (kick off 7pm).
Nuno Jóia, a new addition to the squad from Ligue 1 club Racing Strasbourg, returned to France because his wife is about to give birth to their child.
Babanco was one of the Cape Verde’s influential performers on Friday when they upset Bafana Bafana 2-1 at home, coming back after conceding an early goal. It was the islanders' first win in the group phase of the qualifiers.
