Super League top dogs fail to win

There was only a single change in the top half of the MTN FAZ Super League standings despite exciting action from Week 20 matches played on Saturday.
With leaders Napsa Stars playing on Sunday, the chasing pack of Power Dynamos, Green Buffaloes, Lusaka, Lumwana Radiants, Nkana and champions Zanaco all failed to win their matches.
Instead it was Forest Rangers, Buildcon, Green Eagles and Nakambala Leopards who recorded victories.
Forest Rangers' 1-0 victory over Lumwana Radiants was their first ever against the side from North Western Province, lifting them from eleventh to eighth thanks to a 47th-minute goal by Kobe Chipeta.
And Buildcon recorded their first victory over fellow debutants Real Nakonde, with Kenyan international John Makwatta scoring both goals in their 2-0 win at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. The reverse fixture between the two sides had ended goalless.
At the Independence Stadium in Choma, Green Eagles were to strong as they defeated City of Lusaka 2-0 thanks to goals on either side of the break by Greenwell Witika and Venecious Mapande.
In Mazabuka, Nakambala Leopards gave themselves some breathing space as they moved five points clear of the relegation zone following a 1-0 win over Nkana. Ex-City of Lusaka striker Roy Sakwanda scored the lone goal in the 63rd minute, scoring his first goal for his new side since joining early this month.
Meanwhile, Power Dynamos stayed in second position after they gave away a second-half lead to draw 1-1 at home to Lusaka Dynamos. Benson Sakala had given them a 64th minute lead only for Chrispine Mugalu to equalise five minutes from time.
A similar result was recorded between second place Green Buffaloes and Mufulira Wanderers at Shinde Stadium. A miscued defensive clearance by Green Buffaloes defender Emmanuel Museka resulted in an own goal, giving Mufulira Wanderers the lead which they kept throughout the entire regulation time but Stephen Kambamba equalised in additional time for the two sides to share the spoils. A victory for Mufulira Wanderers would have been historical as they last defeated Green Buffaloes in 1991.
At Nkoloma Stadium, the match between Red Arrows and Zanaco ended goalless.
Sunday's action will see a double header being hosted at Nchanga Stadium, with Konkola Blades and Zesco United squaring off during the lunch-time kick off, and Nchanga Rangers hosting Napsa Stars in the second match.
